Activity A(ii)

THE PROPOSAL

In this set of tasks, you will create a proposal for the solution that will meet the needs of all the stakeholders.

So what's a 'proposal'?

Definition: A proposal in software development is a formal document or presentation that outlines a planned software project, system change, or solution. It is intended to communicate the intent, feasibility, and approach of the work to stakeholders for approval or funding.

Explanation: In the context of software development, a proposal typically serves as the starting point for project discussions. It sets out:

  • The problem or opportunity being addressed (e.g., outdated system, customer need)

  • The proposed solution (e.g., a new application, a system upgrade)

  • Objectives and scope of the project

  • Technical approach or methodology (e.g., Agile, DevOps)

  • Resources required (e.g., people, time, budget)

  • Anticipated outcomes or deliverables

  • Risks and constraints

Example Use Case: A development team might submit a proposal to build a new mobile app for managing deliveries. The proposal would explain the app's features, target users, technical stack, estimated cost, and a timeline for delivery.

The processes defined in the proposal will ensure that the solution you specify in the design documentation to be created in Activity B will provide the features required.
